We are going OpenSource…

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

Hi Everbody,

yes we are going OpenSource…but stop: Not Completey! As part of our effort to spread the Oxygen API, we started an Open Source implementation of a .NET based Client Library. Right now it’s on alpha stage, but we will continue to work on it and make it production stable!

Community contribution is, as always, welcome :)

You can find some info and the link to the sources here: http://wiki.oxygennext.com/index.php/Oxygen_.Net_Client_Library

We are also looking forward to our users contributing Open Source Client Libraries for their desired platform like PHP or Ruby. If you like to do so and need help, get in touch with us!

So long,

Matthias

Gettin Ready for a whole new world

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

Hi there,

as we are preparing for ISE 2010 at Amsterdam, we are also finishing our new Open API that will take Digital Signage to a whole new dimension! Our Developing Team has been working hard to deliver a unique user expierence to all developers out there. Users who are already taking part at the currently running open technology preview (which by the way you should also join by filling this form: http://www.42mediagroup.com/Beta-Programs.60.0.html )  are completely blown away by the power we gave into there hands! Some even go as far to say that this will define the new standard for Digital Signage Software!!! So everbody without API…go home ;)

right now i’m totally looking forward to see some great User Apps hitting the streets! we will take the final product online by mid of february, so be prepared to enjoy a awesome ecosystem of apps thats will be coming up.

But let me tell you some details:

We build a RESTful API which means it is based on the open web standarts like http, xml, json, hyperlinks, etc that made the internet as huge as it is today. So developers can use whatever programming framework (PHP, Java, .Net, Ruby, JavaScript, Objective C, C++ and even from a simple command shell) they like and whatever platform (Windows, OS X, Linux, Symbian, BeOS, IPhones, Blackberrys, ect.) they adore! Forget about SOAP…thats soo 1990ies! But who else is using this fancy RESTful stuff you might think!? well, let me tell you that every Company which is succesfull on the web today uses it for its APIs…to name some smaller ones you might know: Google, Facebook, YouTube, Flicker, Twitter, Amazon, ect….just to name a few :)

Ok, other market participants claim to have APIs too. they let you perform ad campaign management from third party apps…what is this? a joke!? we offer COMPLETE access to every bit and byte….no boundaries! we took down the wall!

For everybody interested to get some more “in deep” technical information i did like to recommend having a look at the documentation: http://wiki.oxygennext.com/index.php/Oxygen_REST_API

You see, we fulfill what we promise :) but wait, there is even more:

Right after the API Release we will bring up our new Application Server Framework, which will allow you to build Apps that run right inside our OMS User Interface to offer a streamlined user expierence….and also save you time and developing money, because you don’t have to invent the wheel twice (like building a own user management or loggin panel, ect)!

ok, to be honest….there is even more to come….but i will not tell you for now :) its a secret…hehe

i hope u enjoy the upcoming weeks and all the possibilitys we are giving you

See u at Amsterdam

best,

Matthias
