The reason for this is the fact that the bet is placed without limit and you will have different odds depending on the previous bets and raises. You should learn how to quickly calculate the poker odds and use this skill all the time. It is also generally considered that betting or folding is better than simply calling with this poker variation. By placing a bet you are creating a possibility that the other player will fold. Otherwise you will have to beat him or her with the better cards combination in order for you to win.
